                 the Lord, He is God; the Lord, He is one;

                                  and Jesus Christ is His only Son!

The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest. (Matthew 9:37-38).

On Saturday, July 11, there will be a one-of-a-kind evangelistic event in Central Park: the New York CityFest. Thousands of believers from all over the metro NYC area will gather for a free concert featuring many A-list musicians and speakers (Luis Palau, TobyMac, Matt Redman, the Yankees’ Mariano Rivera, to name a few). Many of them will be bringing friends, family, and co-workers who have expressed interest in exploring the gospel more. In fact, this concert comes as a keystone event in the larger CityFest schedule—a whole series of events aimed at sharing the gospel message and the transformative power of the cross.

What an incredible opportunity to join with the larger body of Christ in the greater New York/New Jersey region in such important gospel work! And how encouraging it is to see God at work building his kingdom here! I’d like to encourage all of us to support this effort in three specific ways:

1. Pray. Let’s stand alongside our brothers and sisters, and pray for God’s Spirit to work mightily in the hearts of all those who hear his message at this event.

2. Invite your friends. CityFest will give you an opportunity to share the good news. The free concert and messages will be a fun way to hear good music and engage in some fundamental questions about faith and life. Consider asking your friends and colleagues to go with you.

3. Collaborate with those from other churches. With so many other gospel-centered churches participating, the event offers a unique opportunity to join in fellowship with brothers and sisters from other churches  throughout our region.

More information and ticket registration are available at http://nycityfest.org/central-park-event. The event is free, but you must register for tickets ahead of time. 45,000 tickets have already been reserved!

May God be glorified in and through CityFest!
