Stalled! Part 2: I Believe God is Actively Involved in My Life

Jesus Christ has the Name above all names

because He alone is risen from the dead,

He alone has resurrection power to save.

Pastor to People:

Today we bid Godspeed to Carine Toussaint, our Director of Global Outreach for the past ten years. We don’t hear that word “Godspeed” much anymore, but it is perfect for the occasion. It speaks of a trusting if tearful farewell, a wish for God’s presence and success as someone dearly loved starts a new venture. And that is our heartfelt prayer as Carine moves into her new position as Senior Manager at the Global Trauma Institute of the American Bible Society (ABS).

Carine describes the process that led her to the new position this way: About a month ago God asked me, “Do you have a relationship with risk?” I felt like a deer caught in headlights. Risk and I had not been properly introduced; for the most part in my life I had only known comfort. So the two of us began courting. Three weeks later, a full engagement was announced as I stepped out of calm waters and said “Yes” to risk! “Yes, Lord, stretch and shape me as I obey your will and step into deeper waters. Help me to keep my eyes fixed on you.” I surrendered and God redeemed. And risk? It has become a step of faith towards my Father’s new calling. Luke 4:18 captures well the core of my new ministry with ABS: “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor, freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free.”

We are excited for Carine’s new venture. Meanwhile, she definitely leaves her mark at Stone Hill. Here are comments from the church staff, completing the statement, God has used Carine in our church to...

…expand our global reach AND open our eyes to the mission opportunities on our own doorstep (Lara).

…provide energy, passion, the gospel message and a big smile to our missions programs and also to the office (Jim).

…learn to share our faith boldly in dangerous places (Tracy).

…open doors for us in Haiti and the Middle East, where God can use even us (Mary).

…shepherd our missionaries around the world when they were isolated, lonely, and discouraged (Dick).

Godspeed, Carine. We are behind you. We will pray for you. We love you.
