The Triune God - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - protects the Church.
Whoever sows bountifully will reap bountifully (2 Corinthians 9:6).
Here is a timely word from Doug Megill, our Executive Director:
“It is my pleasure to serve you. Among the areas of operational oversight that are mine, keeping you informed about our church finances is a significant one. I don’t mind it; after all, Jesus had as much to say about money as about any other subject! So let me explain a major shift in how our church finances are reported and the implications for those of you who support Stone Hill financially.
As was celebrated a month ago, we have paid off in full the mortgage of the land on which our beautiful facility sits. Praise God, and thank you! We also have another mortgage, which is on the facility itself. The church’s most recent capital campaign, Expanding Our Serve (EOS), has concluded, and with it the Building Fund the church has had for over 10 years. During those years, we have used the monies in the Building Fund to pay for the two (now one) mortgages, which included site work, construction, relocation and related expenses.
Now that EOS and the Building Fund have ended, our financial reporting is in some ways simplified. The General (operating) Fund is now responsible for all financial obligations of the church. Consequently, we will now pay our monthly mortgage payments (approximately $17K) out of the General Fund; that translates into a $102,000 increase in General Fund expenditures for the second half of 2017. Our 2017 budget, approved in January, reflects that increase, which is why the budget calls for a 9% increase in giving. Such an increase is a challenge, and so I am asking for your prayerful generous support. Pastor Matt and I along with other church leaders will be increasing our giving to the General Fund, and we are asking you to do the same. If everyone were to increase their giving by 9%, we would cover the increase. Some, however, will not be able to handle the increase, so others will need to increase their gifts by more than 9%.
Please ask the Lord prayerfully how you can join in addressing this need. Let each of us give “bountifully” and “cheerfully,” and may God multiply our generosity and “increase the harvest of righteousness” (2 Corinthians 9:6-10).”
