Jesus returns to life: Christ’s resurrection delivers strength for today and hope for tomorrow.
Pray at all times in the Spirit with all prayer and supplication (Ephesians 6:18).
How would you describe the privilege and power of prayer in 10 words or less? Here are some answers:
When God’s people pray, mountains move.
The people of God are people of prayer. Always.
Kneel before you leap!
All are true, but perhaps my favorite is this: Ask, and you shall receive. That’s Jesus talking, and His simple words exhort all of us to pray. And pray. And pray believing that God will hear and reply.
I’ve been thinking a lot about another verse in the Gospels, a very sad one, Matthew 13:58: Jesus did not do many mighty works there, because of their unbelief. The verse haunts me. I wonder how much more God could be doing in our church, our community, and the world if we believed radically in His prayer-answering power. When we see so much unbelief around us, are we desperate enough to battle the unbelief in prayer? When we know so many people in bondage to sin and the world and the evil one, do we cry out in earnest for God to break the chains? With so many needs around us, might Jesus be putting us to the test, asking, “Do you really believe in My promise that if you ask, you will receive?”
Why not join other believers in prayer this week? Together, ask and receive. Here is a list of Stone Hill’s regular prayer meetings.

Adult Ed: “Jeremiah”: Will resume on April 22.
Adult Ed: Come Creator Spirit: A Trinitarian Approach to Understanding the Holy Spirit: For Christians throughout time, the Trinity has always been a unfathomable mystery; and the Holy Spirit is probably the Trinity’s most mysterious person. We know the Spirit exists, but how does the Spirit relate to the Father and the Son? And how might the Spirit work in the world? Different Christian figures have thought about the Spirit in diverse ways. Starting from the Scriptural witness, we will look at some of these different conceptions, including Tertullian’s, Augustine’s, and Calvin’s. These figures then will help us understand the important factors (e.g., unity, equality, operations) that define our understanding of the Holy Spirit and the Trinity as a whole. This class is led by Patrick Haley at 9:30 a.m. in Harris Hall. It will not meet on Sunday. It will resume on April 22.
