We rejoice in the hope of God, that if we share in Christ's suffering, we will share the joy of his return.
Church Financial Update: Through the end of July, our church’s income year to date was $992,154. This figure is below budget and below prior year. But, at this point, we are only 2% below prior year, compared to 18% below as of the end of May. Part of this improvement was the $89,130 we ended up receiving from Funding Our Mission, a number higher than previously reported as we received some delayed gifts. The approved budget for 2018 calls for a 7% increase in giving, so your prayerful consideration is still needed. Our expenses this year total $1,210,612. Thus our 2018 deficit at this point is $218,458.
We are thankful for each one who gives.
Adult Ed: The New City Catechism: Please join us in the Library during the 9:30 a.m. hour each Sunday morning. The New City Catechism is 52 “big questions” of Christianity, with answers which provide devotional and theological insight. First, we will watch a 5-7 minute video clip of the answer to a particular question as given by a pastor or Bible teacher. Then we’ll discuss the question ourselves before moving on to the next question.
SAVE THE DATE: Stone Hill will again be sponsoring and hosting The Gospel Coalition (TGC) Mid-Atlantic Conference, Friday night, October 5, and Saturday, October 6. This year’s theme is “Gospel-Shaped Mercy: What Jesus Requires of Us And Our Churches”, based on Micah 6:8.
We are delighted to have Dr. Stephen Um from Citylife Presbyterian Church in Boston and Bishop Claude Alexander, Jr. from Park Church in Charlotte as our plenary speakers. And our 7 breakout speakers will cover a wide range of topics that offer everyone not just something to hear but ideas to act on.
We have designed the conference to renew and refresh God’s people so that we can be agents of mercy and grace to others. This is a central calling of the Church, and in today’s age we all need to be refreshed.
Please visit our website https://www.tgcprinceton.org/ for more information about the conference, to read about all our speakers, and to register. It’s important to note that the conference is especially designed for all interested adults and not just those in full-time ministry.
Advance registration ($55/adult, $20/student) closes September 21.
Those wishing to volunteer should write to Tia Smallwood at firstname.lastname@example.org.
