Pastor to People:

Dear Stone Hill Family,

1 Corinthians 12:12-13 describes the body of Christ: “For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ.  For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit.”  Because of the Spirit’s work, we have been placed into the body of Christ.  We are a diverse group in terms of ethnicity, socio-economic status and in many other ways.  But, because of the work of Christ and the Holy Spirit, we are united together in the body of Christ.

Stone Hill’s community of faith is truly a work of God.  1 Corinthians 12:18 says, “But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose.”  We are here together because of God’s sovereign plan.  It is crucial for us as the body of Christ that we learn to express our unity in Christ by the Spirit in real-time.  We must exhibit the unity that we share in Christ in real-time relationships and community-building.

One way to grow our community together is simply through sharing a meal together.  Sharing a meal is a great way to connect us to one another and to express our God-given unity in a tangible manner.

So, we invite you to attend our New Year’s Eve Potluck on Tuesday, December 31st at 5:30 p.m. at the church.  We will share a meal together.  The Koinonia Team, a ministry of Stone Hill Church, that is working to deepen our unity as a body given our diverse ethnicity is sponsoring this event.   We will connect with one another over dinner as we express our unity in Christ through relationships.

Please join us. All ages are welcome.  Please bring a dish to share- it is a potluck.  We will provide beverages. If you have any questions please email Pastor Tracy at tracyt@stonehillprinceton.org.

Church notes:

Update on Giving: Pastor Jin Lee describes the impact of your giving:

"At the core of the gospel, we have Jesus Christ giving His life for us. Jesus did not have ten lives; no, He only had one life and He sacrificially gave for us. He did not give out of margin, but out of sacrifice. The gospel, therefore, is marked by self-donation, not self-preservation.

Thank you for your generous giving to our ministries throughout the year. We have had a fruitful year.

The gospel changes everything.  We have had increased attendance for our worship services. We have seen people trusting in Jesus as their Savior and changing their lifestyles radically for the glory of God. We hosted numerous luncheon events for people who want to know more about Stone Hill Church and a number of people joining Stone Hill Church as new members. We have over 40 active small groups sharing their lives throughout the week. We have birthed over 10 new small groups this year; it has been such a joy to witness believers cultivating friendship as a result of these gatherings. We have seen our young adults trusting in Jesus, being baptized, and following Him wholeheartedly.

We have lots to be thankful for. To God be the glory."

As we approach the end of the year, we need your prayerful consideration and generous gifts as we seek to continue and strengthen our various ministries. As of December 23, this month we’ve received $334,000. We need an additional $202,000 to finish in the black. God provided in similar circumstances last year and we are asking Him to provide again through you.

New Year’s Eve Potluck at Stone Hill Church: Join us for a New Year’s Eve Potluck at 5:30 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, December 31. Please bring a dish that represents food from your family’s heritage. We will enjoy a time of fellowship and food together New Year’s Eve. This event is open to the entire church and is being sponsored by the Koinonia Team at Stone Hill. The Koinonia Team is a multi-ethnic team whose purpose it is to provide events that will help our diverse church connect with one another in a deeper way. We believe that spending time together over a meal is a great way for us to build community at Stone Hill Church.

D6 Adult Sunday School Class: Our D6 Adult Sunday School Program begins January 5 at 9:30 a.m. This class is open to all adults who desire to be a part of advancing God's mission of making committed followers of Jesus Christ in the next generation. During the month of January we will be studying 1 Timothy. This class will be taught by Ray Carr who is our Deacon of Adult Education.

Early Christianity & Heresies (4 weeks): Beginning January 5 at 9:30 a.m., Samuel Jang will teach a new adult ed class. The first several hundred years of Christianity seem strange and distant to us today. Yet, much of the faith we profess was clarified during these times through struggle and debate. In a sense, it can be helpful to know what something is by understanding what it is not. This class seeks to understand the motivations, aims, and mechanics of Early Christians and the heresies and heretics they were combating; to give us the tools to dispel heresies we see even today, such that we are faithful in the Christian faith we profess. Topics include the Biblical canon, the body, and Jesus Christ.

Person of Jesus Mini-Class: For those who have questions about Jesus and are in the process of investigating the Bible and Christianity we are offering a 3-week mini-course on the Person of Jesus.  This is an interactive class designed for those who are seeking.  All are welcome.  Pastor Tracy will be leading this class on January 12, 19, and 26 at 11:10 a.m. on Sunday morning.  If you are interested or have questions please email Pastor Tracy at tracyt@stonehillprinceton.org.

Care Discussion Group: Starting Sunday, January 5 at 11:00 a.m. the Care Ministry Team will be hosting small group discussions around specific issues. We will host a different topic each month. You are invited to join us as we share around these concerns, offer support and encouragement to each other, and pray.  The following topics will be discussed:

· January - "I am concerned about my child's lack of faith."

· February - "I am struggling with anger."

· March - "Help me deal with my anxiety..."

WANTED: Jesus followers who love children! Currently we are in need of 3 assistants for our elementary grade classes. If you would like to make a difference in the life of a child by showing up in their lives, connecting with them and supporting their learning of God's word, please stop by the Serve Table.
