Discussion Questions:
  • What reaction do you have to the text that says essentially that every human being (before they come to Christ) are spiritually dead, controlled by the world, Satan, and their own desires?
    • Does this understanding of human nature help you understand why the world is as broken at it is?
  • Do you expect people (who have no faith) to live like Christians?  Why?  Why not?
  • How does Ephesians 2:1-3 give us gospel humility?
  • If this text is true, how should we pray and engage our friends, neighbors, and co-workers?
  • If you truly believed that Ephesians 2:1-3 was describing your past identity before Christ, how should you respond knowing that you have a completely new identity in Jesus?  (Ephesians 1, 2:4-10)

Eight Biblical Prayers

Church notes:

God So Loved

Come all you weary
Come all you thirsty
Come to the well that never runs dry
Drink of the water
Come and thirst no more

Come all you sinners
Come find His mercy
Come to the table He will satisfy
Taste of His goodness
Find what you’re looking for

For God so loved the world that He gave us
His one and only Son to save us
Whoever believes in Him will live forever

Bring all your failures
Bring your addictions
Come lay them down at the foot of the cross
Jesus is waiting there
With open arms

(Refrain) For God so loved the world that He gave us
His one and only Son to save us
Whoever believes in Him will live forever
The power of hell forever defeated
Now it is well I’m walking in freedom
God so loved, God so loved the world

Praise God, praise God
From Whom all blessings flow
Praise Him, praise Him
For the wonders of His love (Repeat) (Refrain)

Bring all your failures
Bring your addictions
Come lay them down at the foot of the cross
Jesus is waiting
God so loved the world

This Is Amazing Grace

Who breaks the power of sin and darkness?
Whose love is mighty and so much stronger?
The King of Glory, the King above all kings!
Who shakes the whole earth with holy thunder?
And leaves us breathless in awe and wonder?
The King of Glory, the King above all kings!

(Refrain) This is amazing grace, this is unfailing love
That You would take my place, that You would bear my cross
You laid down Your life that I would be set free
Jesus, I sing for all that You’ve done for me

Who brings our chaos back into order?
Who makes the orphan a son and daughter?
The King of Glory, the King above all kings!
Who rules the nations with truth and justice?
Shines like the sun in all of its brilliance?
The King of glory, the King above all kings! (Refrain)

(Bridge) Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
Worthy is the King who conquered the grave (2x) (Refrain)
