Sermon from Dr. Paul Joshua: Facilitating Conversion

A great gospel promise:
there is therefore now no condemnation
to those who are in Christ Jesus.
To Christ be thanks forever and ever. Amen.

Pastor to People:

I want to introduce you to Jim Erickson, our new Facilities Administrator.

Jim, tell us a bit about your background: I grew up in a Christian family. Mom and Dad were very active in the church. I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior when I was in middle school. God used my upbringing and also my wrestling coach, who was a devout Christian.

Tell us about your family and kids so we can be on the lookout for them! Liz and I met at Gettysburg College and were married in 1985. Liz works as the Disability Services Coordinator at Princeton University. We have three children: Ashley (24) who is looking for work as an elementary schoolteacher in an inner city environment; Danielle (21) who begins work this fall as a programmer for a computer consulting company in New York City, and Garrett (18) who will be attending Wake Forest University in the fall, pursuing a double major in International Business and Chinese.

What kind of experience are you bringing to your position here? I was owner and manager of a manufacturing company in Newburgh, NY, for 20 years. In 2004 I followed God’s call to ministry. After receiving my Masters in Divinity in 2006, I accepted a position at the Princeton Meadow Church where I served as Director of Christian Life. I have experience running and managing facilities and people at both these places of employment. I enjoy building, fixing things and gardening in my spare time.

What most excites you about starting in this role? It’s great to use my gifts of administration and ministry. I also look forward to serving with you as together we serve Christ and the community with this amazing new facility.

How can we be praying for you as you transition into life at Stone Hill? Pray that God will use me and my family in a way that will bring others to know Jesus Christ and spread the message of the gospel.

Jim starts tomorrow. Due to a previously planned family vacation, he will be out of the office the weeks of August 10 and 17. He returns on Monday, August 18.
