All glory to God, our Great Deliverer;
in Christ he has led us back to paths of righteousness!
I will speak to the congregation of your faithfulness (from Psalm 40:10).
God is doing wonderful things here at Stone Hill Church. I have asked two people to share about his wondrous deeds in their lives.
Gerard Wells: I have been overweight for most of my life. Many times I prayed for God to remove weight. After having my daughter, I wanted to be a healthier example for her. In February 2014, I prayed that God would give me the vision to make a healthy change. I also asked him for the strength to carry through with it. The following month a musician friend suggested a diet. Well, it has been a little over a year, and I’ve lost about 100 lbs! My family and I have become more active. I have seen God answer prayer many times in my life, but this one obstacle felt impossible. I often recall the words of Hebrews 11:1, faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. When people ask me about my weight-loss success, I can say that the Lord moved a mountain in my life.
Alyssa Evans: A turning point in my life happened when I was a high school junior. Having recently believed the gospel, I still had questions and wanted to know more about who God was. Someone suggested that I could get to know God the same way I would get to know anyone -- by spending time together. So I took my Bible and, sitting beside a pond near our backyard, I began reading through the Gospels for the first time. That afternoon, I really encountered Jesus. The stories of his life came alive, especially the descriptions of his passion. I realized that I had a lot of vague ideas about who Jesus was, and they didn’t do him justice. I felt God’s very presence with me, one that was more than I could imagine. I was so excited that I read the rest of the New Testament over the next day. God was real, he spoke through his Word, and he was active even in my life!
