We praise our resurrected Lord, who reassures us in the midst of trials and worry.
Adult Ed: The New City Catechism: Please join us in the Library during the 9:30 a.m. hour each Sunday morning beginning July 29th. The New City Catechism is 52 “big questions” of Christianity, with answers which provide devotional and theological insight. First, we will watch a 5-7 minute video clip of the answer to a particular question as given by a pastor or Bible teacher. Then we’ll discuss the question ourselves before moving on to the next question. Led by Doug Megill.
The Koinonia Team: The Koinonia Team is putting together a series of events to promote discussion of important issues related to race and community within the body of Christ and the larger Princeton community. Here are the 2 remaining events this summer. These events will be held in the church Library.
· Saturday, July 28 at 6 p.m.: Movie and Discussion of The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot
Missed the book discussion, come view the movie. We will watch the movie and discuss this fascinating true story that reveals the hidden prejudices and biases in the medical and scientific community.
· Saturday, August 25th at 10 a.m.: Book Discussion of Divided by Faith by Christian Smith and Michael O. Emerson
Our final event of the summer focuses on a sociological study of how the church in North America has remained largely segregated. This is an important book for us to wrestle with. God has already made Stone Hill a diverse congregation. We want to see our fellowship grow in unity even as we express the beauty of the diversity in our midst.
It’s That Time of Year: We are partnering with Princeton Human Services and collecting backpacks and school supplies. Donations will be collected outside of the Westerly Prayer Chapel. If you would like to make a financial contribution you can do so as well. Please indicate that the funds are to be used for school supplies. All donations should be turned in by July 29th. A complete list of supplies is available at the welcome desk.
Get Connected with our Youth Director: Starting Wednesday, July 18th at 6:30 p.m. and running through the summer until Wednesday, August 29th, the youth room will be open for youth to drop in for snacks and games. Please stop by—Michael would love to connect with you.
Also starting this Thursday, from 2 p.m.-5 p.m., Michael will be keeping open office hours, so if you are free any time around then, please feel free to drop by the office for a coffee so he can get to know you better individually!
Finally, if you are involved in the youth program at Stone Hill, either as student or volunteer, please keep Sunday July 29th free for a pool party! There will be pizza, snacks, a fire pit, badminton, and volleyball! Please drop Michael a line at email@example.com if you plan on coming so he knows how many to cater for.
Café Volunteers: We all enjoy the wonderful coffee, tea, bagels and fellowship time in the atrium on Sunday mornings! We are looking for help this summer in the cafe in order to keep the bagels coming. Please consider joining our team. Many hands make light work! If interested please contact Grace Henrie at firstname.lastname@example.org.
