Koinonia Fall Kickoff
October 5, 2021 |
As we kick off a new season of church activities, it’s a great time to refresh on our Koinonia ministry and share what’s upcoming for Fall 2021 through Spring/Summer 2022.
First, what is “Koinonia”? The Greek word “koinonia” translates to “fellowship” in English. Koinonia appears throughout the New Testament, first in Acts 2:42: “And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.” This verse depicts the Christ-centered community that characterized the early church in Jerusalem.
What is our Koinonia ministry’s mission?
Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 12 that “in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit. For the body does not consist of one member but of many.” To that end, the Stone Hill Koinonia Team exists to strengthen the unity of our church body under the headship of Jesus Christ, while embracing racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, and other diversity.
Who is our Koinonia team?
We’re blessed plentifully by the service of individuals who reflect the diversity of our congregants, pastoral staff, elders, and deacons. The Koinonia ministry’s leadership team consists of 5-7+ people who help host events and generate relevant content for our worship services and church communications. The leadership team also facilitates spaces for Stone Hill members and attendees to share their perspectives and opinions openly (e.g., our events).
Our current leaders are:
Shereka Banton
Debbie Boyce
Timothy Chow
Kellen Funk
Ruby Gee
Beth Sears
Katie Sentance
Pastor Andrew Zakhari
