Summer Reading Series – Week 3
July 29, 2024 | Andrew Zakhari
During the second half of this summer we are encouraging every Stone Hill attendee to spend time in God’s Word each week. We have designed a bible reading plan that will help you review the previous week’s sermon but also prepare for the following week’s sermon. This reading plan will help you read through the entire gospel of John by Labor Day. I hope that you will spend time in God’s Word as we walk through the 7 miracles of the gospel of John.
This week’s reading is designed to follow the August 4 sermon.
- Day 1 – John 5:1-17
- Why might Jesus choose to heal this particular man out of the many at the pool? What can we infer about Jesus’ purpose here? What is the significance of Jesus asking him, “Do you want to be made well?”
- Day 2 – John 5:18-47
- How does Jesus’ healing the man on the Sabbath call into question his reputation among the religious leaders? According to Jesus in these verses, why should we trust his authority?
- Day 3 – Isaiah 12:1-9
- How does Jesus fulfill the presence of God that people long for in this passage?
- Day 4 – John 6:1-15
- Preparation for August 11 sermon
- Day 5 – John 6:15-21
- Preparation for August 11 sermon
